Climate Change and Sydney's Stormwater Infrastructure

8 March 2012, 9am-1pm
Barnet Long Room, Customs House, Circular Quay

The Sydney Metropolitan CMA recently commissioned a literature review into the current knowledge and guidance available for the effects of climate change in the Sydney Region. The aim of the review was to collate a series of recommendations for local government to use when considering the impacts of climate change on urban stormwater infrastructure.

The review Impacts of Climate Change on Urban Stormwater Infrastructure in Metropolitan Sydney is available as a draft version to download or can be accessed from the WSUD in Sydney Website.  It is recommended that attendees read the literature review before the seminar.

The reviews's Author, Geoff Hunter (J. Wyndham Prince), will provide an overview of the outcomes and recommendations. Dr Geoffrey O'Louglin will address the impact of recommendations on rainfall data and its applicability to common hydrologic models. There will be opportunity for comment and questions.

Dr Peter Smith, the Manager of Climate Change Science at the Office of Environment and Heritage will also speak on the current context of modelling and knowledge in NSW. He will also provide information on future projects and outputs from OEH.

City of Sydney is sponsoring this event as a leader in climate change adaptation by local government. Dr Bhakti Devi will also give a brief outline of City of Sydney's Decentralised Water Master Plan.

There is no charge to attend the seminar, however places are extremely limited and are primarily for Local Government Staff.

For more information please contact Libby Rawlingson at the Sydney Metropolitan CMA on 02 9895 6126.
